Sreekrishnatemple , Kunnathurmedu , Palakkad, Kerala was established in 1915 by Rao Bahadur P.I Chinnaswamy Pillai who was also the First Chairman of Palakkad Municipality. The temple was constructed according to the Kerala temple architecture, though the founder’s forefathers were migrated from Thirunelveli district in Tamilnadu . The reason fot the construction of Sreekrishnatemple here was to protect village folks from the clutches of Brahmarakshas. Pooja for Brahmarakhas which started more than a century ago is still continuing on Amavasi days.
Lord Shiva temple in Harikkara street (now known as Rajapattanam Shiva Temple) was constructed by the forefathers of P.I Chinnaswamy Pillai during 19th century. In the year 2009, a Tamboola Prashnam was conducted. They adviced us to light a Nilavilakku in Sreekrishnatemple separately for Lord Shiva and asked the devotees coming to Sreekrishnatemple to worship Lord Shiva from here and visit the temple now and then. Namaskara Mandapam, Nalambalam and Kodimaram became a reality within a year of starting construction.
